As usual I was sticking out my Geordie neck and tipping up Wayne Mardle, who now I think has the showbiz and the darts biz equation just about right, to beat Peter Manley, who sometimes is Mr Inconsistency. Silly me....
Manley got super consistent and took the match by swooping through the last seven legs on the trot. Wayne Mardle's facial expression said it all: Jack Palance on a bad night.
Then came true sensation. Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor looked listless and angry with himself as he took on Unicorn's John Part. The upshot as I'm sure you all know, was a win for the Canadian. I think that The Powers workload has taken on a massive increase, but one cannot take anything away from Part. I am writing this still sweating from Part's performance against Peter Manley in the semi-final. At 14-9 I opined that there was only one winner - not Manley. But the flamingo shirted Cumbrian ran five legs on the trot and looked to have done another number, like he did against Mardle. But then Part showed some arrogant consistency in the later legs to win 18-16. The final between Lloyd and Part is 8pm on Sky on Saturday.
Guess who is making no predictions at all. To end on a cliche - the only winner will be darts - and that goes for all of this week of drama, colour and fantastic filming.
