"I came, I saw, I conquered" proclaimed Caesar in 47 BC describing his recent victory over Pharnaces II of Pontus in the Battle of Zela.

“Veni, sake, sushi” counters John Part summarising the 2006 Team Unicorn Contender tour to Japan, roughly translated as “I came, I enjoyed just a little of the local liquor, I ate everything in site”

An enthusiastic trio of Contenders – Michael Barnard, Adrian Lewis and James Wade – met myself and brother Richard at Heathrow ready and up for anything, apart from - in James’ case – an intercontinental flight. “Can’t sleep on planes” said James and 13 hours later he proved his point. He looked slightly miffed that Richard and I had passed out on take-off, stirring gently as we landed in Tokyo.
