This week, James himself has been in the limelight at the World Matchplay. He blitzed Chris Mason 16-4 and looks the real deal. He has swapped fixing car engines to tickle the tungsten full-time. I have compared him to Dexter in the kids show ‘Dexter’s Laboratory’ and he certainly has the chemistry to make a massive impact.
How do I know about Dexter….well I am an expert on kids TV….you have to be with five grandchildren!
I will be very busy soon working on a new book about Geordie patter and humour. Years ago, I did a similar book about Yorkshire ‘mores’, with MP Austin Mitchell. It was a disaster: copies sold……………………………………………………….23!!! Copies given to relatives…………………………………………137!!!

Dave Lanning and me have had a disaster….we went looking for our usual pool hall on the front here in Blackpool and found that it has been turned into a LAP DANCING CLUB!
We made our excuses politely and left. We settled for a game of dominoes at the Bloomfield Road Working Men’s Club at the back of the football ground!
