MY DARTING PARISH

In this, my first 'blog', I wonder what different formats are played by different leagues for the regular weekly 8 'man' teams?

Our league has just introduced what to me is one of the most bizarre formats I've ever come across. We play:

Top 4
Bottom 4
Middle 4
4 Pairs (normal format = 1+2, 3+4 etc)
1+2 Home - V - 7+8 Away
7+8 Home - V - 1+2 Away
8 singles

Therefore 17 games in the evening. Just a little too much when we start at 8:45. I'd be interested in hearing of any variations that still give all on the team the best chance to play more than a couple of games each night, but still allows a sensible finish time.
