Peter Manley finally got up and running in the 2006 Premier League but Phil Taylor stole the show in the snows of Aberdeen. 'One Dart's victory over Wayne Mardle takes him into 4th place in the table....Taylor though, is still unbeaten and sits on top of the pile. The biggest upset of the night saw Unicorn's World No.1 Colin Lloyd beaten 8-3 by Ronnie Baxter. Manley raced into a three leg lead over Mardle and although 'Hawaii 501' levelled up at the break, he was always struggling, as 'The Amarillo Man' finally found some consistency - despite having 95 per cent of the crowd against him. His 127 check-out also guaranteed him a £1,000 bonus for the highest finish of the night. He also just missed the bull attempting a 170 kill. His 8-5 victory means Mardle is still without a point and still bottom of the table. "It is good to be up and running. The crowd didn't bother me because I am used to the boos! I reckon I can build on this now and have a good chance of reaching the semi-finals," Manley said. Taylor averaged a tasty 101, in beating Baxter 8-4 in a high-quality match. Both players threw 11 dart legs and 'The Power' wrapped it up in style with an 84 finish on the bull. Everyone is now counting down to his first clash with Raymond Van Barneveld in Bournemouth later this month. Barney won the all-Dutch affair against Roland Scholten 8-3. "It is going to be great," said Taylor. "I can't wait and I am sure Raymond feels the same." There's no doubt Colin Lloyd's performance against Baxter was the biggest disappointment of the night. He just never got going, despite being fully fit again after suffering from back problems. "I was poor." Lloyd admitted. "But don't write me off because there are still nine group games to go." Lloyd just couldn't hit his doubles. He had 23 attempts and nailed only three. The Holsten Premier League roadshow takes a break next week and is back on March 16 in Wolverhampton. It seems the big question remains.....can anyone beat Team Unicorn's 13-times World Champion? Team Unicorn heads for London this weekend for another UK Open Regional.
