Phil Taylor booked his place in the quarter-finals of the International Darts League with another emphatic victory over Team Unicorn stablemate Colin Lloyd. Lloyd is still to beat Taylor in a major TV tournament and it turned into another nightmare night in Holland. From one leg apiece, ‘The Power’ hit the gas, reeling off six consecutive legs to win 7-1. Taylor averaged 98 to Lloyd’s 91. But it isn’t all doom and gloom for Unicorn’s World No.1…..if Lloyd beats Shaun Greatbatch in his final match of this 2nd Group phase on Thursday night, he will join Taylor in those quarter-finals. Elsewhere, Raymond Van Barneveld joined Taylor in the last eight. In the all-Dutch affair, Barney steamrollered Roland Scholten 7-1. It was a shocker for Scholten…his only consolation was a 127 finish on the bull to win his only leg of the match. It seems Barney holds the Indian Sign over Scholten at the moment….much like Lloyd’s jinx against Taylor. Wednesday’s results: Gary Robson 4-7 Simon Whitlock Ronnie Baxter 7-2 Paul Hogan Shaun Greatbatch 7-5 Jelle Klaasen Raymond Van Barneveld 7-1 Roland Scholten Darryl Fitton 7-3 Michael Van Gerwen Ted Hankey 7-5 Gary Anderson PHIL TAYLOR 7-1 COLIN LLOYD Tony O’Shea 4-7 Martin Adams Thursday night sees that first clash between the two World Champions – Taylor and Klaasen, with ‘The Power’ a big favourite to maintain his 100 per cent record in the tournament.
