Adrian Lewis and Peter Manley are through to the quarter-finals of the World Series of Darts in Connecticut but Team Unicorn star John Part crashed out in the first round. Part was the only player in the top 16 to be beaten by an American qualifier. The former World Champion missed one dart to win, as he was edged out 6 legs to 5 by John Kuczynski, who stays on course for the $1,000,000 prize for a US winner! In the all-Unicorn clash, Peter Manley proved too strong for Ray Carver, winning 6-3. Carver came from 3-0 down but Manley’s experience told. There were comfortable wins for Colin Lloyd, Phil Taylor, Adrian Lewis and Kevin Painter, as they chase the top prize of $100,000 for a winner from the PDC. Lewis booked his place in the last eight, beating Lloyd in a 2nd Round thriller. He was 5-2 in front, before Unicorn’s World No.1 reeled off three consecutive legs to take the match into a decider. Lewis though, held his nerve to finally hit double 12 for victory. Manley lived up to his ‘One Dart’ nickname in the 2nd round against Mark Walsh. He hardly missed, as he raced into a 5-1 lead. Manley won four consecutive legs with his first dart at double top! The 6-2 victory was as comfortable as it sounds. Taylor and Painter play their 2nd round matches on Sunday, when the rest of the tournament will be completed. There will be news of the results on Monday morning here on the Unicorn website. 1st round results: Colin Lloyd 6-2 Isen Veljic Adrian Lewis 6-0 Jim Widmayer Andy Jenkins 6-1 Tom Curtin Denis Ovens 6-4 Bill Davis Peter Manley 6-3 Ray Carver Mark Walsh 6-4 Jeffrey Russell Dennis Priestley 6-1 Joe Efter Phil Taylor 6-2 Tim O’Gorman Terry Jenkins 6-4 Timothy Grossman Kevin Painter 6-3 Jim Watkins Mark Dudbridge 6-0 Joe Slivan Wayne Mardle 6-3 Dave DePriest John Part 5-6 John Kuczynski Ronnie Baxter 6-1 Brad Wethington Alan Warriner 6-0 Joe Chaney Roland Scholten 6-1 Roger Carter 2nd Round results: Colin Lloyd 5-6 Adrian Lewis Andy Jenkins 4-6 Denis Ovens Peter Manley 6-2 Mark Walsh Roland Scholten 4-6 Dennis Priestley Remaining 2nd round matches: Phil Taylor v Terry Jenkins Kevin Painter v Mark Dudbridge Wayne Mardle v John Kuzcynski Ronnie Baxter v Alan Warriner BY STUART PYKE
