In-form Irish star Mick McGowan has followed up his brilliant run of form over the last three weeks by claiming the 128 Plus Classic crown in Great Yarmouth.
It is his second PDC title of the year. He averaged over 100 in the final – beating Stuart Dutton by 6 legs to 1. McGowan has already won the Ireland Open Classic.
In recent weeks, he has reached the final of the Players Championship event in Holland, losing to Team Unicorn’s Colin Lloyd, the UK Open Scottish Regional semi-finals and McGowan lost in the final of the Players Championship event in Scotland – to Adrian Lewis.
Unicorn’s best performer in Yarmouth was Peter Manley, who was edged out 5-4 by Denis Ovens in the quarter-finals. Manley had earlier beaten Unicorn stablemate Andrew Hamilton in the last 16.
Colin Lloyd was looking good all day but he paid the price for missed chances – beaten 5-3 by Alex Roy at the last 16 stage.
In the last 32, James Wade lost to Colin Osborne, Kevin Painter was beaten by Gary Welding and Wes Newton lost to Alex Roy. Michael Barnard was whitewashed 5-0 by Roland Scholten in the 1st Round.
