Green – who was banned from playing after testing positive for a banned substance at last year’s UK Open Final – showed what he is capable of by reaching the IDL in Holland next month.

The Unicorn star was one of eight qualifiers from a field of over 100 top players at Villa Park – beating Garry Spedding 5 legs to 2 to clinch one of those prized places and guarantee himself at least one thousand euros.

Green also enjoyed impressive victories over Steve Maish, Steve Beaton and Dale Newton along the way and this triumph gives him a great chance to get his career back on track and shine on the big stage at the IDL.

There was huge disappointment for Team Unicorn’s Wes Newton, who lost out 5-4 in the final qualifying game to former World Champion Richie Burnett.

Kirk Shepherd fell at the first hurdle – beaten 5-3 by Spedding, Colin Osborne was beaten 5-3 by Matt Clark in the 2nd Round, while Mick McGowan was a 3rd Round loser – going down 5-3 to Burnett.
