BRILLIANT LEWIS INTO IDL SEMI’S BUT WADE MISSES OUT

Adrian Lewis stormed into the semi-finals of the Topic International Darts League with a brilliant display to beat Darryl Fitton.

The Unicorn youngster stayed on course for his first big title – demolishing Fitton – to book a semi-final spot against Gary Anderson, who beat James Wade in a terrific quarter-final tussle.

The 22-year-old from Stoke showed maturity beyond his years against the experienced BDO star and incredibly won 10 out of 11 legs to close out a memorable 6 sets to 2 victory.

The first four sets all went against the throw. In that 4th set, Lewis checked out a brilliant 170 finish and a 100 kill levelled the match at two sets apiece….from that moment, it was one-way traffic. The ton finish brought the house down….single 20, followed by double top, double top!

The pivotal point came in the 7th set…Lewis led 4-2 and in the first leg, Fitton missed three darts at double 16….the Stockport man stopped the rot with a 124 finish but Lewis just missed a 160, before nailing double top to go 5-2 in front.

Lewis lived up to his nickname – hitting the ‘Jackpot’ on the doubles….his finishing was superb and Fitton just couldn’t respond. A sweet double 15 sealed the match and his place in the semi-finals.
