It was a stunning victory over Phil Taylor but for Peter Manley, it will count for very little if he fails to secure a follow-up Premier League win in Bournemouth. Manley takes on Adrian Lewis at the BICC on the South coast in week five of the Whyte and Mackay Premier League, aiming to push himself into semi-final contention. “It was a great result for me against Phil but it is important to keep that form going,” he said. ‘One Dart’ has produced some spectacular finishing so far and a win and two draws from his first four matches isn’t a bad haul. “I am very pleased with my doubles….more often than not, it has been spot on and I will have to be just as good in Bournemouth because Adrian Lewis has also been doing well.” Lewis is currently third in the table but it could all change again. It is a ‘new’ Manley on the oche these days – much more relaxed. “I just want to enjoy it all,” he said. “It was starting to become a little bit of a chore, so I have adopted a more relaxed approach and it seems to be working.” Last year, Lewis and Manley won one match apiece in their head-to-head clashes….8-4 the score on both occasions. Of course, it was Manley’s first TV victory over Taylor since 1999 and it will also be a huge night for ‘The Power’ in Bournemouth. If he is beaten by Wayne Mardle, Taylor could find himself bottom of the table after losing three out of his four games so far. It promises to be another thrilling night, as James Wade defends the only unbeaten Premier League record and top spot. ‘The Machine’ has put in some brilliant performances so far and his showdown against 2nd placed Raymond Van Barneveld could well be the clash of the night. You may remember Wade’s demolition of Barney at the World Grand Prix in Dublin, when the Unicorn star won by 5 sets to 1 The other match features another all-Unicorn affair. John Part is desperate for a victory, while Terry Jenkins aims to make it a hat-trick of World Champion scalps after his brilliant victories against Phil Taylor and Raymond Van Barneveld. ‘The Bull’ believes he is on a charge and more than that, he now believes he is on course to make the semi-finals again. Unicorn’s 2008 World Champion needs to rediscover the form that took him to that third title at the Alexandra Palace.
