Robbie ‘Kong’ Green has produced the performance of his life to reach the semi-finals of the World Masters.
The Unicorn star will face Lourence Ilagen of the Philippines for a place in Sunday’s final.
Green was in imperious form again in Bridlington, where he has already won nine matches in his quest for glory!
And this terrific run means the likable Scouser has also given himself a great chance of gaining automatic qualification for the Lakeside World Championship.
On Saturday in the last 16, he took out No.6 seed Ross Montgomery by 3 sets to 1 with a 93 average and Green won it in style – a brilliant 160 check-out.
To be fair, Green’s finishing was spot on all day.
In the quarter-finals, the Unicorn player beat Irishman Connie Finnan…..Green took it by 3 sets to nil and he didn’t drop a single leg!
That victory included finishes of 116, 120 and 140
Green’s semi-final opponent Ilagen has produced shock after shock to reach this stage. You may remember he played at the PDC World Championship at the Alexandra Palace. He beat No.2 seed Scott Waites and Steve West on Saturday.
The other semi-final on Sunday will feature Tony O’Shea against Martin Adams.
In the World Masters Ladies event, there was no joy for the Unicorn duo of Tricia Wright and Irina Armstrong.
You have to feel sorry for Irina….the time of her first match was brought forward and she wasn’t informed. She eventually lost her second game against Holland’s Tamara Schur by 4 legs to 2
Wright was a last 16 loser – going down 4-2 to Rhian Edwards of Wales.
