DEXTER AND HIS DARTING LABORATORY!
Well, I have now proved that I am not full of hot air in that little box in the Gods at the Winter Gardens. For two years now, I have been shouting the praise of James Wade, his 9-darters and his dedication to the game. This week, James himself has been in the limelight at the World Matchplay. He blitzed Chris Mason 16-4 and looks the real deal. He has swapped fixing car engines to tickle the tungsten full-time. I have compared him to Dexter in the kids show ‘Dexter’s Laboratory’ and he certainly has the chemistry to make a massive impact. How do I know about Dexter….well I am an expert on kids TV….you have to be with five grandchildren! I will be very busy soon working on a new book about Geordie patter and humour. Years ago, I did a similar book about Yorkshire ‘mores’, with MP Austin Mitchell. It was a disaster: copies sold……………………………………………………….23!!! Copies given to relatives…………………………………………137!!! “ Aah hoap the new byuk sells more canny than that bluudy do-do” Dave Lanning and me have had a disaster….we went looking for our usual pool hall on the front here in Blackpool and found that it has been turned into a LAP DANCING CLUB! We made our excuses politely and left. We settled for a game of dominoes at the Bloomfield Road Working Men’s Club at the back of the football ground! The next diary blog will be when it’s all done and dusted here at the seaside.
