THE RISE AND RISE OF IRINA |
| 06 Февраль 2007 |
|
Irina Armstong’s rapid rise in the darts world continues. The Unicorn Global star is now on the verge of the top 10 in the BDO and has burst into the top 20 in the World Darts Federation rankings.
From a field of more than 400 of the best Ladies players in the world, Irina reached the semi-finals of the Dutch Open, before losing to England’s Clare Bywaters but it was a great achievement at the biggest ‘Open’ tournament on the calendar. She is now 12th in the latest BDO rankings and provisionally 18th with the WDF. The Russian born star won seven games in one day to reach the semi-finals, including victories over the highly-rated Carla Molema and World No.2 Francis Hoenselaar. Hoenselaar is the current World Masters Champion and lost in the World Championship Final to Trina Gulliver…..but she was no match for Irina – the Unicorn star winning 3 legs to nil. The event was won by Gulliver but it was more valuable experience for Irina as she continues to plot a course to the top of the Ladies darts world. |
