And Phil Taylor has been taking it easy after his latest triumph at the US Open – getting plenty of rest before he prepares for the Bank Holiday Monday showdown in front of 3,500 fans at Brighton.

“I have been tired this week – suffering a bit of jet lag after the trip to Connecticut but make no mistake, I’ll be firing and I’ll be ready by the time the referee calls ‘Game on’ for the match against Dennis Priestley,” he said.

All the pundits are predicting another massive Taylor/Barneveld clash in the Premier League Final…..but that was the bet 12 months ago in Plymouth, until Roland Scholten ripped up the script and beat Barneveld in the semi-finals.

The Unicorn ace beat the PDC World Champion with an impressive display to claim the first ever US Open title at the Mohegan Sun Casino last weekend and he remains confident he can repeat the dose in Brighton.

“I guess it depends which Raymond turns up,” he said.
