TAYLOR MADE IN SOUTH AFRICA!

Phil Taylor put his recent barren spell behind him to claim the South African Masters Title in Johannesburg, with a thrilling win over Raymond Van Barneveld at the Emperor’s Palace Casino Resort.
It may have been an ‘exhibition’ tournament but make no mistake, this was serious business and both players were performing as if it was the final of a ‘Major’. This victory meant so much to Taylor, after his troubles of the last few months.
This win over Barney could now give the Unicorn star the impetus for the big events to come over the next three months. He raised his game and he looked focused and he got the better of his arch-rival with a terrific display. The big smile on Taylor’s face at the end said more than a thousand words!
They produced a high class final, with Taylor cashing in on missed Barneveld doubles, to come from 2-4 down to win 8-6. The first five legs went with throw, with maximums galore and a 136 finish from the Dutch ace.
He then broke the Taylor throw but crucially missed three darts to make it 5-2.BY STUART PYKE
